Kids on the Block. South Bronx. 1983-1986.
The kids in the block, any block in Union, Kelly, Fox, Walton, Prospect, Jackson, Tinton, 156th street, 152nd Street… would find entertainment by spilling out thousands of gallons of water to cool themselves off in any given summer day. In this image I captured the typical car wash as the force of the water was quite intense. Only once do I ever recall jumping into “La Pompa” and the water beat me up, mind you, fire hydrant…I never did this again!
