The rhythmic pulse of a guitar and drums echoed through the train, a vibrant melody carried on the wind. Young musicians, their faces alight with passion, poured their hearts into the music, their instruments a testament to their youthful energy and boundless creativity.

This image was taken in one of the Bronx’s most iconic train turns, as the subway cars make a sharp turn into the elevated Simpson Street IRT station—splitting between Southern Blvd and Westchester Avenue—as it snakes its way south-bound into the City and coming within only a few feet of the windows of the tenement building in its path.
