Sometimes you connect with people you photographed long ago, like Radames Soto, a bare-chested teen playing baseball near St. James Park who went on to become the doorman at Angel Franco’s building.

More recently, this photo taken the same day led me to hear from the sister of this young man who was watching the game from the sidelines. “His name was Michael,” his sister wrote to me. “He died 23 years ago but was loved by his family.”

Sometimes the Bronx is a small town.
