Francisco Molina Reyes II is a Nuyorican visual artist, born in the Bronx, and raised in East Harlem (El Barrio). A graduate of Binghamton University, he holds a BA in Africana Studies.
While residing and working in the Bronx, during the 70s and 80s, Francisco developed his skills in”street photography.” He soon took on professional work as a writer and photographer in the Latin Music scene. His photos have appeared in various publications, including Latin New York Magazine, FAMA, Latino News, New York Latino, Newsday, The Daily News and El Diario/LaPrensa in New York City. He also served as Music Editor for Latin NY Magazine (1980‐82).
In 1991, Francisco established MAMBOSO NUYOTOPIA, an archive devoted exclusively to the photo‐documentation of the Puerto Rican/Nuyorican Experience in New York City and on the island of Puerto Rico. He founded and manages the website MAMBOSO.NET,and the NUYORICAN Photo Blog where he continues to post images of New York City street scenes, and photo‐documentations of various events within the Puerto Rican / Nuyorican / Latino and Hip Hop communities.
In 2011, photographs from his archive were part of the “DIA”Exhibition at the prestigious NYPH’11 Festival. As a result, Francisco Molina Reyes II, along with seven others, were entered into the US Congressional Record in honor of their photo‐documentation of the Puerto Rican / Latino community.Francisco Molina Reyes II currently lives in the Bronx, NY
